July 18, 2020 - Amethyst Cove
A late afternoon start when we arrived at the Cape Split parking lot for a hike to Amethyst Cove. The hike is difficult and not recommended for children, mainly because of having to use ropes going to a steep embankment to to shore.
Linda, Donnie and I posed at the top of the cliff before our descent. It must have rained a day or two before as the clay path was very slippery, especially if you did not have good hiking boots.
Along our hike up the shoreline, we did find some amethyst!!! We also found some other amazing rocks, keeping in mind that we had to climb back up the cliff so did not want to carry too much. LOL
The landscape along the cliff was beautiful. So much to see. This photo almost looks like a painting.
You never know what kind of interesting natural work you would see. It was amazing to see a tree and bushes growing on the top of this isolated rock. Absolutely stunning.
After our hike, we were famished! We stopped in Wolfville at Paddy's Pub and ate on their deck.
This young lady was super hungry. LOL

Kelsey and I headed out for camping at Caribou-Monroes Provincial Park near Pictou for three nights. It was extremely hot when we set up camp. I picked up some Kaiser Subs in Lower Sackville, before meeting Kelsey at the campsite. Kelsey was in PEI visiting friends and got dropped off at the campsite. Thank you kindly Rick for the subs (you know what I mean).
Kelsey noticed this beautiful smoke and sun haze caused by our campfire. Made for a lovely photo op.
Kelsey all smiles ... camp set up and now to relax.

This is a traditional family camping breakfast ... fried bacon, eggs, gherkin pickles ... and of course ... a beer. LOL
HEY! Don't knock it until you have tried it. LOL

After a yogurt breakfast, we went for an 8km hike along the shore.
The scenery was quite interesting no matter which way we looked.
There were a fair bit of rocks on this beach, but we kept on walking up around the point.
Kelsey found a great place to set up for a beach day. It was a cleaner beach and a nice breeze blew upon us on this very hot day.
While relaxing on the beach, I happened to look up to see the PEI-NS ferry coming into Pictou. I was too lazy to get up to take a pic. HaHaHa
The ferry going around the point to Pictou.
I decided to walk another 2km up the coastline towards where the ferry went by the point. I came across this beautiful spot.
Ahhhh! Another camping treat ... the campfire dinner. Always need to have one of these ... so good.
Kelsey and I played Monopoly Deal ... guess who won. LOL

I just got back from the Valley and my good friend Linda was kind enough to pick me up to go to a new restaurant [Birch & Anchor]. We had a fantastic time. There is a reason she picked me up ...
... I worked hard this morning and was very, very thirsty this evening. We had to wait an hour in a line up, but the food was pretty good ... the beer was even better. LOL

Linda, Roadie and I headed to Clam Harbor Beach. Other friends were to join us, but were either working or busy. They missed out on one of the nicest beach days this summer. :D
Here is Roadie trying to teach us how to surf. LOL
Linda taking pics from the ocean.
The day was hazy, but with a humidex of around 38! I wouldn't want to be inland today. LOL
The tide was making its way out. The water was a lovely temperature I must say.
As the sun was lowering, most people had left the beach ... while we went for a nice walk to take a few pics.
Beautiful rock structure.
A secluded private beach ... so nice.

Today, Ron and I got together for a Photography Outing. It has been a long time that we have had the opportunity to get together to do this. It seemed like just yesterday that Ron, Ken and I were in Iceland.
Today, our first stop was at the Shubie Wildlife Park. It was such a hot day and most of the animals were hiding in the shade. They were probably looking at us ... saying, what fools are this that are walking around in the hot sun. LOL Even the black bear was laying down in the doorway of its shelter with its paws in the air.
Our next stop was at Victoria Park in Truro. The first waterfall had a bunch of people swimming in it, so would not have been wise to stop and take a photo. We went up to the second waterfalls and the problem was the sun directly hitting the falls so hard to capture the photo I was looking for. :D
On our way back to Halifax, Ron had driven by this pond before and wanted to stop and take a couple pics of it. The lighting was not what we were looking for, but was still okay.
The second pond was a little different, but still made an okay shot.
This BMW convertible is what I was riding around in for the day. Ron just bought this beauty. Another great day ... so good to that we got together for the day. :D
