Hike around Gaff Point

November 22, 2019

It was a cool day, but at least it wasn't raining.  What an incredible hike ... first your start on Hirtle's Beach, a sandy beach that changes to a pebble beach.

Pete and I smiling ... mind you, it was at the very beginning of our hike. LOL

The beaches disappeared and you are soon on the plateau overlooking the cliffs and horizon of the ocean.

A variety of nature surrounded us ... it pays to stop and just take it all in.

I truly like that the trail has not been over developed ... a few narrow spots, root walks, but still a moderate hike.

A rope remains for those who wish to climb down to this secluded beach ... a very pretty spot.

The boulders on this shelf seem out of place, perhaps remnants left deposited from the ice age.

The rock formations along the coastline of the loop around Gaff Point were a joy to explore.

The trail you hike on is just on the cusp of the exposed rock.

Pete strolling along the nicely changing color of the low growing brush.

This part of the trail had been developed minimally, a nice walk through the trees.

The view back towards Gaff Point peninsula ... the trail took us around the perimeter of the peninsula.

Back to Hirtle's Beach ... easier walking here than on the pebbles. LOL

The boardwalk in the parking lot had various names branded in the boards.  Found one donation came from  the Winder Family from Lethbridge, Alberta. Nice.

Well, another great hike has been accomplished ... a great day it was.  Below is a map outline of our hike ... not an overly long hike, but certainly a worthy hike.  Highly recommend it. :)
