This morning was a major change in weather as was previously reported. It is looking up for the opportunity to finally hike up Corner Mountain.
My brother and I were camping in Pincher Creek and when I rolled out of the tent two deer were standing there. What a site to wake up to. I know ... I know you can only see one in the photo ... I was not hallucinating. Hahaha
This was close to the beginning of our ascent looking back to where we started.
The animal trail we are walking on is where an actual road used to be, but has been swallowed up by nature.
A look back to where we had been ... a pleasant journey in the light rain.
Close to this spot is where I was in the family 4x4 as a12 year old. I was sitting in the box of the truck with a homemade canopy and the truck had made a huge 45 degree tip. I climbed out through the canopy window to learn we had driven over a section of washed out road. We almost went rolling down the mountain.
Once we had reached this plateau, I had recognized this as the spot we walked up to while Ed was trying to get the truck out of the situation. I remember it being very windy here and the incredible view.
Now, it is time to move up to the summit of Corner Mountain, the highest point in the photo below.
Looking back to where we had hiked and to the spot where the 4x4 almost went over.
Some natural beauty along our journey.
Crossing a small valley to Corner Mountain.
Seems strange to come across snow on a rainy day.
Beautiful view and not on summit yet. Table Mountain is in background to the left. Charlie and I climbed up there a few years ago.
Windsor Mountain in background to the right. The snow is where I was standing only moments ago.
Scenic view of Windsor Mountain.
Standing on the remnants of a power pile.
Charlie descending Corner Mountain.
Turned around for a view of where we had been.
The left peak is Corner Mountain and just to the right is where I stood as a child overlooking the Prairies.
Interesting plants. They are called, Silky Scorpionweed.
On our walk down were a great number of dead trees.
Waterfalls on our descent.
Land formations were quite interesting.
After getting back to the truck we headed towards Pincher Creek and saw this storm burst. What a unique sky shot.
It was a great camping trip with my brother, Charlie ... a great way to share our birthdays. And, certainly another great memory has been created.
