I met with Charlie in Sparwood at 8am as we waited for the online release of the clues for the treasure hunt.
As soon as they were released, there was one just 10 minutes away. After walking up to the coordinates, we saw that a survey path had just been freshly cut and the box was missing.
We made our way up passed Cranbrook and found our first treasure box for this year. 😊
Some of these boxes are placed in such beautiful spots that you may normally miss.
On the way back we made a couple stops. Both are campgrounds near Fernie and such beautiful colored water.
Charlie and I stopped in Fernie to pay respects to his brother in law (Karens brother), who unexpectedly passed away in a very tragic accident at his work place.
This bench is a memorial placed in his honor where he worked.
This statue is located in front of the Fernie Courthouse. A lovely area.

Charlie and I made our way up to Calgary and area to find more treasure boxes.
One box was missing and we are certain the coordinates were correct. We ran into another fellow hunter and he too could not find it.
What was amazing was that many of the places we stopped at in Calgary gave you the feeling you were out in the country. Such lovely locations.
View of a valley in the middle of Calgary.
The treasure box below was a fluke that we found it. The coordinates were way off, but we knew it was on the great trail. We went to the nearby town and found the trail. We were near the end of the trail and found it without the coordinates! 😊
On the way back to Lethbridge the cloud formations were amazing. Such vibrant color and ominous clouds.
A wonderful 2 days of touring part of BC and Alberta. We highly recommend that you try this. Such a joy. 😀
