Train from Porto to Lisbon went very smooth. A special note ... I had bought the tickets on line and put in the days and time of travel. On the tickets it said I had to go to the ticket counter at the train station to get the seat reservations. When I asked for the seat reservation he asked me what day and time I wanted to go. I said that information is on the tickets ... it was not. It did not cost me extra but I would not have booked the tickets online if I knew they were not going to include the dates I asked. However it worked out.
I found the street but could not find the accommodations ... it turned out I had to walk through a store and go up to second floor. This is strange because I was informed that if I go out at night to make certain if the store is closed that I lock the door behind me. I actually have to walk through a store to come and go even if it is closed.
My room is in the center of everything to see ... great location.
This is the store I have to walk through.
My room is only one block from the Santa Justa lift. The man in the foreground is roasting chestnuts.
This beautiful arch is called Arco da Rua Augusta. What a magnificent structure. It takes you to one of the main squares in Lisbon, Comercio Square.
This statue is called D. Jose I and sits in the Centre of Comercio Square. A lot of people in this area.
A view of a portion of Comercio Square.
It wad suggested I check out Time Out Market. What an excellent recommendation.
It was super busy inside and almost all seats were filled.
I had to try the Ground Burger with fries and beer ... very good. An excellent recommendation I must say.
This is a very special desert in Lisbon. A very sweet tart with custard, very tasty and is sold everywhere.
The memorial is called Pelourinho. It sits in front of a Municipal building.
This building was originally a bank and may still very well be. It was carved near the top of the building. I just loved the windows and the lion sculptures.
I was taking a different street back to my accommodations and this was a magnificent site. The Arco da Rua Augusta from the street view with the D. Jose I statue in the centre.
A lot accomplished today after traveling by train. Time to take it easy.
