Sagrada Familia ... a Gaudi Marvel Architecture

Date of Event: April 8th, 2019

I arrived at Sagrada Familia at 915 am to find that it was completely booked until 1230pm.   So I picked up a ticket and went for a Metro ride downtown to check out another Gaudi creation.   I am glad I did this now,  the outside was not as impressive as some of his other creations.

Gaudi was a genius of an architect.   His plans and models for the Sagrada Familia are used today to finish what he had started.

Gaudi knew that he would not be around for the completion of his creation.  You can still see the construction of this marvel today.   It is expected to be completed by 2026, 100 years after the day Gaudi had passed away.

Now to check out the inside.

The details that Gaudi put in this structure is beyond comprehension.   He thought of every little minute detail.   For example,  all the statues are outside on the structure and not inside.

The columns inside represent trees ... the higher up you look they seem to go out like branches.

The stained glass windows allow reflection light which is amazing.

The reflection of the sun on the stained glass windows create this amazing color effect ... absolutely heavenly.

This is an original portable pulpit.

On the back of an original chair was an engraving.

This is one of the main doors for entering the Church.

After Sagrada Familia, I took the Metro to  Montjuïc Park.

Montjuic Castle is an old military fortress, which dates back from 1640, built on top of Montjuïc hill in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.

This is the view from the top of Montjuïc hill.  In the center of the city you can see Sagrada Familia.

I saw this monument and loved the design ... cleverly designed.

Walking through the gardens I had to take this pic.

It has been a lot of walking today ... time to take the Metro back to my room.
