This morning, my brother and I headed out to Crowsnest Pass for a Geocache adventure. It is amazing how many of the geocache locations show you a beautiful perspective of an area that you have been by so many times but see it completely different every time.
Along the way we made many stops, up to Sparwood and Elkford, to take in the fall beauty ... such an amazing part of Canada.
A chunk of our time we visited different sections of the Elk Valley Trail, which is part of the Trans-Canada Trail. I took time to reflect on how a good friend of mine, Kathy D., had hiked the Trans-Canada Trail with her children ... just to walk on part of this trail made me think about how much beauty they must have taken in on their months of hiking along on this trail when it first opened.
An undeveloped natural sulphur springs is located near Elkford called Sulphur Springs. Many years ago, before Elkford was developed, the spring was known for its healing properties. There is a seven-foot, dug out spruce log, that has a cavity large enough to contain a person in the spring.
The only mammals we saw today was deer and they were everywhere. After stopping on one road we walked up to a spot where the deer were eating. I can't believe how this deer, looked up, stuck its tongue out at us and then took off. HaHaHa
On our way back to Lethbridge we stopped again at Crowsnest Mountain. Every time I have driven by this mountain the lighting transforms it making it a little different each time I see it. Today, was no exception. This majestic mountain has been a magical part of my life since I was a little kid.
The mountain to the left of Crowsnest Mountain is known as Seven Sisters Mountain.
And so ends another perfect day in the west. The temperature was around 15 degrees Celsius and the snow in the mountains is a reminder of what is coming soon. It is getting close to the time for me to depart this part of the country. LOL
