Medicine Wheel - An Indigenous Wonder

Today we drove to see an ancient Medicine Wheel.

After driving for awhile, we ended up on a back road, parked and hiked in about 2.5km. It was a beautiful hike on a gorgeous day.

Once we reached the medicine wheel entrance, there was a sign explaining the medicine wheel.

After climbing the hill and having a closer look around, I was quite impressed. The following photo's certainly do not do it justice.

There were rows of rock that stemmed off of the pile that were strategically placed.

It was so interesting to see how some of these rocks were placed. Many small circle of rocks were strategically placed and were perfectly aligned in the four directions. Some circles aligned with cairns on top of hills that were a little distance away. There was one specific type of rock that you could find on each side of the pile (about 10 metres away) and from here if you walked in a distant circumference around the pile of rocks you would consistently come across small circles of rock.

I am not certain the significance of all that I had seen, but I most certainly will research about them. Another great day! Thanks Sis!
