Today I joined my sister and three of her friends and we drove out to Writing on Stone. We parked in the campground-picnic area and began our hike into the hoodoo’s.

This day was a perfect day for photography, hiking and just enjoying the scenery … and wonderful company.

After a short hike, it did not take long for us to reach the top. What a gorgeous view from here!

We started to explore the area and after every step the scenery looked so different. What an amazing place!
We hiked through one section and after climbing down the rock we came across a rattler all curled up! It didn’t move and I was thankful for that so I could take a few photo’s. HaHaHa

After hiking a little way in, we came across some petroglyphs on the cliff wall. There were different drawings from bear paws, buffalo to other animals.

After hiking a little further, we stopped at a viewpoint that showed the beautiful changing leaves and reflection on the Milk River.

I happened to see movement from the corner of my eye and was standing beside a snake! Needless to say … I screamed. HaHaHa The snake just went about its business and went into the bushes. Me, I had to take a photo of it before it went in. LOL

A little further along the trail, there are faint pictographs (rock paintings) that is believed to be a hunting scene. Some of the art was so faint it was hard to make out.

Continuing along the way, so many beautiful shapes of the landscape.
As we approached near the end of the trail, we saw the absolutely amazing petroglyphs. This amazing find depicts a battle scene, unbelievable!! The lighting was not the best for taking photo's of these petroglyphs, but if you look closely you can see much of the work.

Walking back along the top, I was able to take some more scenic shots. Such beauty.

When we returned to the campground, we had a lovely hot dog and sausage roast. The weather was perfect for this and what a lot of laughs we had. Such a great group of ladies.

While eating our s’mores, a deer walked by us … talk about being part of nature. Awesome day!
