What a day! We spent the entire day in Farwell Canyon … so much to see and do. We had great intentions of getting to Williams Lake by 3pm, but just couldn’t do it as we truly enjoyed this area.
Along the gravel road, which was very smooth, we saw some bighorn sheep.
After taking a few photo’s we winded down the road to the bridge ...
... and once across we took a side road that led to an old homestead … what an amazing and beautiful area.
There were also a lot of bear skat in this region, more than usual.
After spending a great deal of time around the old homestead, we made our way along an old road that wound around by the river only up on a plateau. What a gorgeous area and again a lot of bear signs.
Once back to the main gravel road there was a little viewpoint before getting onto the main gravel road. We drove over to the point and what an amazing view! I just love this area.
We left the truck in this parking area and walked across the main gravel road onto a side road. This took us to some pictographs. There was one shaped like a bird, one like a man, another like a deer and some that we were not sure what they were. Absolutely awesome!
On our way back, we starting to wind our way up the road and again saw some bighorn sheep.
After taking a few nice photos here we made our way to a sign about half way up the hill. We parked the truck and walked around 5km to these huge sand dunes. Talk about an unusual site! A lot of wildlife signs, but did not see anything along our hike.
We decided we would stay in the recreation campsite that we stayed in when we first started on route 20, near Riske Creek. It was beside MacIntyre Lake and hopefully this time we will not have snow to wake up to. LOL
We got our tents set up, food cooked and sitting around a warm campfire when it started to rain. I guess it is time for bed. HaHaHa
