Woke up this morning and I could not get motivated as it was so damn cold. Through the night I had to keep on my hoody to keep my head warm. I only had my nose sticking out of the sleeping bag and I can assure you, I could have been considered a blue noser as my nose was so cold. HaHaHa
I stepped out of the tent only to see huge flakes of snow coming down!!!!! I can’t believe it! The tent was completely covered in snow and I didn’t hear it, but could certainly feel it. LOL
We quickly broke camp and quickly jumped into the truck to get warmed up. My hands were freezing!
After leaving the area we drove for about an hour with snow coming down. We were not going to let a little snow stop us from our camping experience. HaHaHa
After driving to what they call ‘The Hill’, about a 15% grade going down, we put the truck in low gear and began our decline. There were a few narrow spots, but no problem.
Once we reached the bottom, we stopped at a bear viewing area. Apparently they had spotted six bear that morning.
A short distance from here we stopped at Fisheries Pool Campground, but we were not permitted to camp here. They had a sign up that only hard covered campers were permitted to stay here. No tents were permitted on site because of the bears in the area. The campground manager indicated that we could stay at McCall Flats Recreation Site.
We drove up a back road to McCall Flats Rec Site and had to dry out our tent gear.
We had a quick look around the area, walked directly behind our campsite by the river.
There were no bear warning signs up, but as soon as we went down to the river (right behind our tents), there were some bear prints in the sand! I placed my footprint next to them to give one the idea of how big these bear prints really are. My shoe is a size 11!
Bear trek days are back!!! LOL
