This morning we started off with a hike to Bailey’s Chute. The Chute was quite interesting and we watched to see if there were any salmon jumping … none.
We decided to do the Bailey’s Chute West Lake Loop which was about a 4km return. Along the way we stopped at Marcus Falls and took some more macro shots.
A little further along the trail we came across Myanth Falls which were very nice as well.
We looped around and ended up back at Bailey’s Chute … this time we saw just a few salmon jumping. They cannot get up any further than this.
We continued our drive and parked at Ray Farm. Crossing the road we walked about 15 minutes to The Horshoe, a beautiful scenic spot where the river winds around like a horseshoe.
We walked back to the Ray Farm parking and did a walk around Ray Farm and to the Mineral Spring. John and Alice Ray farmed this land from 1932 to 1946.
A small cemetery marks the resting place of John and Alice.
Making our way up to the mineral spring we spotted more mushrooms and toadstools. You would think that we took photo’s of all the different types, but then we get a surprise of some more amazing macro pics.
We walked up to the mineral spring and although it was not that majestic it was interesting to see the little knoll and see the spring bubble out.
We set up camp at Pyramid Campgrounds and then drove to Helmcken Falls. Talk about a magnificent waterfall! It was absolutely stunning!
Our next stop was at Dawson Falls and we thought that it can’t get any better than Helmcken Falls, but it was pretty darn close. A stunning layered waterfall that just roared. Such beauty.
We noticed a person on the other side and knew it was close to our campground. Once we return to the campground we would check that hike out.
We drove up a side road to Green Mountain. At the top of this mountain there was a lookout tower and you have a view of about 270 degrees around the region. In the distance you can see Pyramid Mountain.
Back at our campground, we hiked in along a trail that takes you to the north side of the Dawson Waterfalls. A different perspective … and amazing to sit and watch it.
It was amazing to see a live tree in the middle of the waterfall ... talk about a survivor. :)
