Bella Coola - A Serene Natural Place

September 15th, 2018

We broke camp after breakfast and made our way to Bella Coola to find a campsite that was an easier access to different things we wanted to see and do. At the McCall Flats Rec Site you had to drive quite a distance on a rough road and we decided not to do that.

Made our way to Bella Coola and stopped in at an information centre. After getting some directions and information we headed to the wharf and to the end of the road to see the Clayton Falls.

These falls were a short walk and very nice. The erosion of the rock over the falls was quite unique.

A short distance from the falls (across the gravel road) was a recreation day use site. I pulled into this area and walked over to the beach following a small path.

Up the shoreline was an abandoned boat. I walked up to this logging boat and took some photo’s … a pretty cool site.

Going back into Bella Coola we visited the various totem poles around the community. These were not ancient totems but were very nice just the same … and unique.
