After breakfast I walked back up the road to a turn-off that goes to Secret Cove. I walked up to the small parking lot and then continued on the path. There was a fork in the path and I was not sure which way to go so I went left. After a couple of km’s I realized this was not the right path, it was an old road, but a very nice walk. I continued along the path and saw a lot of bear skat and I didn’t have my bearspray. I continued on my walk and it ended up joining onto an old logging road. After walking about 6km, I decided I would turn around.
On the way back, I saw movement up ahead on my road … it was a huge black bear. It just kept sauntering down the road and I just watched it. Besides, it was too dark to take any good photo’s of it. LOL
Eventually it stopped and turned around … it took a few steps in my direction and then it looked like it went around the bend. I waited a couple minutes and then made my way down to the bend. There was a straight section of the road and it was not on the road. The only thing it could have done was go into the woods close to where I was standing. I looked around, but could not see it anywhere and I didn't wait that long that it should be out of sight. When you see a bear that is awesome ... when it is on your path and you don't know where it went ... not so awesome. Thought this would be a good time for me to move along. HaHaHa
At the intersection, I turned left onto the path that goes to Secret Cove and walked about a kilometre to the beach. It was a very beautiful secluded beach and no one was around … this just keeps getting better!
After getting back to camp the fog was starting to roll in. A possibility of rain is in the air … no matter … life is grand.
