Bay of Solitude - Gray Bay

August 19, 2018

I went for an approximate 5 km hike this morning along the beach. I only saw one other person in the distance … at the start of my hike. Once I got around the first bend, not a person in sight … absolute solitude. It was so nice just to walk and listen to the waves … such a peaceful setting. Life is grand!

I think I will stay here a little longer than planned.

I got back to my campsite ... such fantastic weather and a perfect location. Hearing the waves every day and night from my tent ... got to love this!

Went further down same beach I hiked on yesterday … difference is that I hiked to a spit that was 5km from the campsite.

After going out onto the spit, I was walking back to the mainland and saw a campfire ring above the beach right across from the spit. I climbed up the little embankment and followed a trail into the woods. It led to an old road that hasn’t been used in years. I followed this and it came to a couple old foundations and some posts with what looks like lights.

I followed the road as it wound right beside the ocean. The funny thing is that you cannot see this from the beach. After about 2km, I came across an abandoned old bridge. I walked another 1km along the road and then cut through the woods to the beach.

After lunch, I made my way to Sandspit to get some ice and a few groceries. I drove around the town for a little while, seems like a nice little town.

After getting back to camp, I relaxed the rest of the day at the tent … such a relaxing day!
