Today, I visited Kitimat and Kitimat Village.
It was a nice little town that had a huge spruce tree over 500 years old. The photo does not do it justice. To get a better perspective, you can take 5 adults holding hands to attempt to get around the circumference of the tree.
After leaving here, I took a drive down to Lakelse River Recreation Site. This was on a side road and was not that easy to find, but I eventually got there. It was a quiet and beautiful drive and the last 6km were on a gravel road. I decided I would come back here this evening to see if there were any bear around.
I headed to the Information Center and put on 3 more blogs. I chatted with a young lady who works here and she indicated that she has seen many bear on that road ... this confirmed my plan.
After 5pm, when the Information place closed, I made my way through downtown Terrace, they had a mini-festival happening with a street blocked off. So, I checked it out.
I arrived at the Lakelse River Recreation Site at approximately 6:30pm and decided I would prepare my supper here. Afterall, it was a gorgeous location.
After supper, I sat waiting patiently and no bear. After a couple people showed up with dogs, I decided to move on. Oh well, can’t have it every day. HaHaHa
Took a short drive from here down a logging road ... beautiful scenery. And yes, another grand day. :)
