Headed out at 5:30am and saw a cow and calf moose on the side of the road just a little way outside of town. It is funny, how you look all over to see wildlife for 4 days and don’t see anything and then when not looking so hard, they are there. LOL
After about an hour spotted what looked like a dog on the highway, but it was in the middle of nowhere. I decided to start recording to capture a video of it before it went into the woods. It kept running down the highway and then it finally veered into the woods. I had the camera pointing where it went in and to my surprise it was peeking out of the bushes. Not sure what it is … but it soon took off.
The scenery was beautiful driving from Valdez to Destruction Bay.
Destruction Bay got its name when a violent storm destroyed buildings and much of the highway construction material that was stored here when the Army was building the highway. After driving for 9.5 hours, I stopped at Congdon Creek Provincial Campsite which runs into Kluane Lake. What a beautiful day with amazing reflections off Kluane Lake. It was great to have a sunny, warm day after 4 cold days of rain. Got the gear all dried off and ready for the next round.
Hey! It just dawned on me! I have been tenting for exactly one month as of today! No hotels … no luxury cabins … no fancy restaurants … just tenting and mostly my cooking. It is so hard to believe that a month has gone by … WOW! AND … I am still loving the camping life. This has been amazing! I think I will have another cold one to celebrate! HaHaHa Cheers!
