Tumbler Ridge - Global Geopark

Slept in and after breakfast left about 9am.

First stop and hike was at Flatbed Cabin Pool Dinosaur Footprints. [3km Return Moderate Hike] to see the Dinosaur footprints. This was quite interesting and you can clearly see them.

I was heading back to the parking lot and ran into a couple who told me a black bear had been sited at the Flatbed Falls.Hmmmm … got to check this out.

I walked to Flatbed Falls [2km return Moderate Hike], no bear but a beautiful waterfall.I did get some nice pics.Decided to walk closer over the logs on what seemed to be a path. After taking a few pics I noticed that part of the river was flowing under the logs … this was not land I was standing on!I cautiously made my way back.Phew!

Next stop was further up the road on Route 29, to Kinuseo Falls and Monkman Provincial Park.I was surprised to see that when you turn onto the gravel road you have to drive 50km on a gravel road to reach the parking lot before starting the hike.

This was a beautiful drive and the hikes were amazing, as was the falls.I hiked on all the paths [approximately 4km easy/moderate hike] to see different perspective of these falls … beautiful hikes.

At the end of the hike I was hungry and ate two ham sandwiches at around 1:30pm at the picnic tables in the parking lot.Ham sandwiches was my major “go to” lunch.LOL

About half way back out towards Route 29 I took a side road 5km to Nesbitt’s Knee Falls.Once there I did the hike [3km return – moderate hike].I met some people coming out and they warned me of the wet rocks, that they were very slippery and to be careful … their dog didn’t make it down. They were right, it was very slippery, but certainly worth the hike … beautiful falls.

I ran into a dog on the trail and it came up to me.The owners were walking through the rough woods below looking for it.I hollered down to them that the dog was with me.The dog took off and went down to where they were.

Once back onto the main road I continued 7km further up Route 29.I came to a turn off to go to Shipyard-Titanic Hiking Trails which was 14km drive in on a gravel road.It was quite a drive to the parking area, but what a view!

I started the 4.5km return Moderate hike and was amazed at how little grooming to the trail there was … this is what I love! Not a groomed trail, but a good walking trail.

Well, let me tell you I got to one point and thought that was the Titanic part of the trail … I was actually only half way to the end.I wasn’t sure I was going to continue as I was getting tired … after already completing four hikes today.

Well, I was glad I did … the end result was beautiful! The view over the mountains and the valley was spectacular.Along the way, I took a side trip and saw a Marmot sitting on a rock just chilling.Once he saw me he jumped off the rock and stopped near a hole.Got a few nice pics though.

The climb to the peaks were great!I noticed some bolts screwed into the rocks at different points and realized it was a place for rock climbing. What a nice location.\

When I started to walk back, I turned around and took a pic of the two points that I stood on looking over the panoramic scenery. On the way back, I spotted a ruffed grouse … it stared at me and I did not move.

It went about its business eating some grass and I took some pics of it.I saw some movement to my side and saw two Marmots! They were just eating some bushes nearby and were a little skittish.I managed to get a few pics of them.

I made it back to camp at around 7pm and cooked up a feed of KD with a couple of wieners in it.Ha Ha

This was an amazing day!Happy Canada Day!From a guy who feels he is on the Top of the World!!
