Powersaw Carvings and Beautiful Lake Camping

It is 6:15 pm and the tent is set up.I am sitting in Mom’s old chair overlooking Moberly Lake at the Provincial Campground. What a beautiful evening and such a great place to end my day.I have struck gold with the campsite #67 … great view of the lake and a stream running beside my tent … I will sleep very well tonight.

I decided to stay here for 2 nights at a cost of $20.00 a night.Okay, let me share my day …

I left the Lion’s campground at Tumbler Ridge this morning around 9am.Just a short distance passed the Gwillim Lake Provincial Campground, I spotted a bull moose on the side of the road, I got some great shots of it.

I headed into Chetwynd, what a unique town. They have powersaw competitions every year and display the artists work around town. When you see some of these art pieces you would never believe they were carved by a powersaw … amazing work.

I drove south on Route 97 towards Prince George.I drove over the Pine Pass and my first stop was at Bijoux Falls. The falls were next to the road and were nice.

I continued my drive and went to the town of MacKenzie, a forestry-based community. This town was named after the explorer Alexander MacKenzie and was about 30km off of Route 97 on Route 39.I must say that the drive was okay, but I found the scenery here just okay.I would not go out of my way to take this road again.

On my way back to Chetwynd, after about 10 minutes on Route 97 from Route 39, I spotted a bull moose by the road.I was about to take some shots when a vehicle pulled up and scared it into the woods … oh well.

I continued my drive and let a large number of vehicles pass me as I pulled over.A short distance passed the ski resort, I spotted a black bear on the side of the bank.It was watching me for quite a while and I snapped a few pics. The pics turned out dark because of the lighting … rain on its way.No matter, it was fun just to watch the bear for a few minutes before it took off.

I stopped in Chetwynd at IGA, I didn’t know this store still existed.Anyway, I picked up a few groceries and then drove north on Route 29 to Moberly Lake.

And that was my day.

Relaxing and now enjoying the lake and the running stream beside me.

A campfire prepared dinner ... yummm. Life is so great!!!

As the day ends ... and the golden glow unfolds ...
