The Last Days In Buenos Aires

March 13th

Today was somewhat of a chill day until early in the afternoon. We decided to check out the Plaza del Congreso and so glad we did! Talk about amazing architecture, the sun was not in the best location, but still so amazing to see. From an actual working water fountain to the surrounding buildings, it is a must place to visit.

We then headed towards the Obelisco, which we already visited, but went over one extra block to see the Tango steps on the sidewalk. This was interesting and a few people wondering what we were doing, stopped to take a photo as well.

From here we crossed back passed the Obelisco to Tribunales Teatro Colon Parque and saw some more magnificent architectural structures including Palacio de Justicia and Teatro Colon.

There was a unique building that was mostly glass with a mirror affect that had an interesting front structure. This building I could not find a name for it, but loved its style.

We then walked over to Parrilla Pena Restaurant to try some recommended beef. It turned out that they closed at 3:00pm and don’t open until 8:00pm! It was now 4:30pm and I am too hungry too wait so I am afraid we will miss out on this lovely recommended restaurant on this trip.

This morning we headed towards Planetario Galileo Galilei, the local planetarium. There was a show playing on Asteroids, but we could not be there at that time to see it.

We walked around this huge green space made up of many parks and took photo’s of monuments, lake reflections and other interesting features.

We then headed back to our room for some rest as I had booked us tickets to see a Tango Show this evening.

At 8:15pm we got picked up by a taxi to attend the Tango show at Esquina Homero Manzi. From my research, this was one of the more traditional tango shows and not as much showmanship as other places. We were not disappointed with the food, singing, live band and dancing. It was a great combination and certainly have to do this when visiting Buenos Aires.

Chill day … downloaded pics and backed up hard drive. Had to leave at 2:30pm for airport … we were flying out of the second international airport which is about 40 minute drive from our hotel. Our flight to Easter Island leaves at 5:00am.

Used Remise, a type of taxi service that is a little more expensive but are consistently on time to pick you up and take you where you need to go. A great service and highly needed this morning. Also, the regular taxi service is extremely expensive, and they have been known to be late as well as not being as honest.
