After working on the photos all morning, we planned on going to Isla Tenglo this afternoon. Tenglo Island is in the Puerto Montt harbour and it costs 500.00 Chilean Pesos to take the ferry across. We arrived at approximately 1:00pm which was a good time as the tide was on its way out. It is quite simple to catch the ferry across to the island.
Once on the other side we made our way to the top of the island. There is a path, but it is not the easiest way to go up to the top. Walking on the right side of the island (when you get off the ferry) along the coastline for a short distance we found a road that takes you right to the top.
On top you have a panoramic view of Puerto Montt with the cruise ship in the foreground and the mountains in the background.
There was also a huge cross on this hill that made for a great shot as well.
When I walked in front of the Cross to take some more panoramic shots, a couple of hawks landed very close to me. A couple of steps and they flew away.
We then walked along the road that starts on one end of the island and works its way down to the west side of the island, almost to the middle of the island. On our journey down the road, Charlie tried some blackberries and suggested I try them as they were the best he had ever had.
Well, I am not one for eating berries off of plants, but I tried one. They were so good that we both ate them as we strolled down towards the beach. I was not sure we were going to make it to the beach for the amount of times we stopped to eat berries and also the amount of berries we ate. LOL
We then hiked along the west beach heading south to make our way back to the ferry dock. The walk was very relaxing and we saw some interesting birds as well as some interesting plants. One plant had an interesting “bud” and the leaves were absolutely HUGE!
On our final section of the beach hike, there were some nice views across the harbor and also in the village on the island.
Right near the end of the hike, we saw this dog laying on the steps. It looked, like how I felt. HaHaHa.
It was another great hike. 😊
