Last day with car and had to return it by 3:00pm. I opted to go to the Parque Nacional Los Galciares.
It was an hour drive to the park gate and then about 45 minute drive to the final stop. I did make a couple stops along the way, but there were very few places you could actually get your car pulled off the road. Two of the locations were viewpoints and certainly great views. Upon arriving at the end of the road, I walked along the boardwalk to get a close view of the Glacier Perito Moreno. There was hardly a soul along this walk (until noon), even with all the buses that came in. Reason, the buses took the tourists to the cruise boats. I am so glad that I came this morning as the sky was clearing of all clouds and so sunny. I walked around for about 2 hours and took different angle shots of the glacier. I saw a couple small calving and heard a lot of big ones that either happened in the middle of the glacier or on the sides where can only see by boat.
The last hour I stay at the north end of the glacier and saw some minor activity.
It looked like something was going to happen, but could be now or even the next day … so unpredictable. Well, I am glad I waited. I had to leave within 5 minutes to get back in time to return the vehicle. I was so happy I stayed that extra few seconds. I had put my camera away and was just about to leave when I heard some loud cracking sounds and believed something was going to happen soon. I took out my phone and started to video tape the glacier and then focused on the one area. I was not to be disappointed, what a site! To see the calving of part of the glacier was amazing to experience. I truly wished I could stay longer, but had to get the car back. Another incredible day!

After moving to a new accommodation yesterday, decided to do a chill day today. Walked to downtown to book a ticket on a cruise for tomorrow to see at least two other glaciers. There are concerts being held in town as a week-long festival that started yesterday, but the bands will more likely be playing early in evening. I witnessed the stage being set up yesterday and hearing one band playing down the street and everyone was having fun with some people dancing.
Thought I would try the only fast food restaurant I found in all of southern Argentina. It is called Wolly’s and not only do you get burger, fries and a Pepsi for 145.00ARS (9.00CDN), but you could order a beer instead! I opted for a Pepsi … the second soft drink I have had in over 10 years. The first one soft drink was in Punta Arenas, Chile a couple weeks ago. Prefer not to drink pop, but easier to order where it is a meal deal. LOL
Hiked around town for a bit ...
... and then walked out to the Ecological Bird Reserve, Laguna Nimez. Because of the wind and only being around 5pm, there were more people than birds right now. There has been over 80 different bird species in this lagoon including Flamingoes. Will try going early morning sometime this week.
