This morning I was not in a big rush as it was raining and I had seen almost everything I wanted to see. I got on the road about 9:30am and drove up to the ski hill to have a look at the panorama of Punta Arenas. I then drove back to the far south road passed Fuerte Bulnes. I decided that I would hike to Faro San Isidro. The heavy rain had stopped and now it was just spitting rain. I parked the car at the end and loaded up my backpack for the walk in. I stopped at a shipwreck and saw the tide was in so I knew I was timing it well.
To my surprise, the sign said Faro San Isidro – 4. I assumed that was 4 kilometres when in actual fact it was 6km to the lighthouse. No matter, as the area was absolutely gorgeous and worth the hike in. The beach terrain changed frequently and was okay for walking. I spent about two hours in the area exploring and taking photo’s … such a beautiful site and worth the hike in.
Back at the closed hostel, I saw this sauna and two hot tubs! I found it pretty interesting that the hot tubs had metal containers in the water. I believe that you fill them with wood and burn it to heat the water. What a cool make shift hot tubs! LOL
Saw this beautiful horse on the beach with two other horses. They are available to rent if you wish to horseback up to the lighthouse. I chose to walk, but on returning they sure looked inviting. LOL
Made for a great photo, though.
