Today, Nancy and I decided to go for a nice urban hike. The temperature was 6 degrees celsius and no wind, talk about nice. We saw this statue and saw it as a great photo op LOL.
We stopped on our walk to take a pic of the Ryman Centre - Grand Ole Opy. What a gorgeous building!
We walked down Broadway Street and listened to all the live bands playing in every bar along the strip. It was amazing to walk up and down this street. We walked for quite awhile and decided to stop at the Goo Goo shop to see what they had in their store. To our surprise the Goo Goo shop had been in operation in Nashville for over 112 years. They were the first shop to combine different types of candy. Nancy bought us a treat ... no wonder they are still in operation, talk about tasty.
After a nice little treat, we decided we needed to get something to eat. One place Nancy wanted to go to was George Jones place. We checked it out and saw they had a great price on food.
After eating a fine meal, we decided to again walk back up Broadway. After listening to different musicians playing we ended up going to The Stage. What a blast we had!
We chatted with the lead guitarist and vocalist, Lefty Ferguson ... a very personable guy. The band was very good, Nancy and I danced up a storm. Lefty and the band played quite a variety of songs, they certainly played to the crowd.
After the band set was over, Nancy and I walked over to Ernest Hebb Record Shop and looked at all the autographs and history related to this building. From the 1950's to the 1970's they actually played radio on AM 650WSM in the back of this building. So much history here, and to think that admission was free to attend.
